Group information / Introduction
Pannunion Group's main activity is the production of plastic packaging materials. The naming and controlling company of the group is Pannunion Plc. and the corporation consists of two manufacturing subsidiaries in Hungary and three in Central Europe (Romania, Ukraine and Serbia). Its Szombathely plant is the largest business unit of domestic production.
Pannunion Plc is located in Szombathely, Western Hungary, a city with 80 inhabitants (6 Puskás T. Street) 240 km from Budapest, 154 km from Wien and 120 km from Graz. This company is the most modern and the largest member of the group. It disposes of a warehouse and a sales centre in Budapest (District 10, 18 Szállás Street).
The operation of Pannunion Group focuses on three main business areas and activities:
All three main market segments of thermoformed packaging materials are in the food industry:
- margarine packaging: different kinds of margarine boxes and covers,
- dairy industry packaging: boxes for storing milk products (sour milk, yogurt, cottage cheese etc.), for companies operating in the dairy industry of the region,
- catering, ice cream packaging: ice cream and catering boxes and covers.
The market of products manufactured with blow technology basically covers five areas: primarily chemical industry and household chemical industry as well as the cosmetics industry, the pharmaceutical industry and the food industry.
The main market of the products of Pannunion Group is Central-Eastern Europe (among others Southern Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece), with approx. 120 million inhabitants.
While more developed EU member states provide market stability, the markets of Romania, Bulgaria with their 30 million people, and in the future the markets of Ukraine and Albania, have an extremely high growth potential.
As the customers of the company are mainly manufacturers of consumer goods, Pannunion as a supplier could take part in the expansion of consumption that is expected to be permanent and significantly higher than the Western European rate.
The strategic objective of Pannunion Group is to be the leading supplier of plastic industrial packaging materials in the Central-Eastern European region. The Group established its foreign operating companies following the geological expansion of the customer base established in Hungary. Foreign expansion could continue in case market conditions are suitable.
- With its Hungarian production and development base, the Group can provide remarkable competitive advantage in the field of decoration technologies.
- The processing of PP, one of the most modern materials used as raw material in the plastic industry, is in the centre of its product portfolio, getting ahead of materials such as PVC and PS.
- While PVC sheets used in the packaging industry are more and more receding, the Group successfully introduced technical/mechanical PVC sheets in the building industry.
- The Corporation has initiated the manufacturing of PET (polyethylene tereftalate) sheets in its plant in Romania. With this product, the Group is one of the first PET sheet producers in Central-Eastern Europe.
- As a result of the investments of the past few years, the company has realised the production and processing of sheet combinations that significantly improve the packaging industry characteristics of 5 and 7 layers plastics.
The basic objective of Pannunion Plc's human resources strategy is that all its employees should actively take part in the continuous development of the management system, a strategic item.
